New Springbok Bar to Open Mid-June in The Hague, Netherlands

Troy and Amy Spears have been dreaming of opening a Springbok Bar for years. And now their dream is finally turning into a reality. The couple who reside in The Hague have endeavoured to launch what is a first for the city. In fact, various South African restaurants exist in other parts of the country but no such bar dedicated to South African sports, people or cuisine has ever been established in The Hague itself.

“[Rugby has] been a passion of mine for a long time,” says South African co-owner, Spears.  “It’s never been the right place, the right country, there’s always something that’s never quite right. And then when we moved here [to The Hague], it was the perfect place, the perfect time [for us to establish the Springbok Bar].”

The bar is to open mid-June this year at Noordeinde 165, an upmarket and trendy spot right in the heart of the city – a city world-renown for peace and justice and home to many international organizations and a growing community of South Africans.

South Africans based in The Hague and in South Holland in particular have expressed excitement at the prospect of the new establishment, the cuisine and atmosphere which will serve as a home away from home to many.

PS. On an informal note – Did you spot me in the video wearing my proudly SA rugby kit?!?
