5 Most Beautiful Viewpoints in Sea Point, Cape Town

Sea Point has some of the most incredible scenery in the Cape. Situated between the mountain and the sea, you cannot get better views elsewhere! These viewpoints are ideal for romantics or those wanting to see the immaculate Atlantic Sea Board coastline!

1.    Sea Cliff Road

Sea Cliff Road is a relatively short but stunning road that curves from the Bantry Bay region down into Sea Point (and towards Queens Beach). If you are driving or walking down from Victoria Road, Sea Cliff Road appears a little steep. As you walk down, you’ll notice modern blocks of flats to each side, and ahead of you, you’ll see the most exquisite royal blue ocean complete with a rocky coastline.

As you make your way down the road, be sure to look to your left and look back at the hundreds of blocks of flats that line the coast. Above them, you’ll see a stunning view of Lion’s Head. This is indeed one of the most affluent areas in Sea Point.

2. Signal Hill

Signal Hill is the ideal spot to have a bird’s eye view of the entire Mother City. To get there from Cape Town central you’ll need to drive up Kloof Nek towards Camps Bay. At the crest you’ll turn right into Signal Hill Road. Drive for about 2 or 3km and in no time you’ll see the whole world go by from the summit. You’ll be able to see the beautiful blue ocean, the iconic Table Mountain, as well as the city centre and the Atlantic Sea Board including Sea Point itself.

3.    Top of the Ritz

The revolving Top of the Ritz Restaurant is a fantastic place to dine in Sea Point. The restaurant and hotel have been going for years and you are guaranteed an excellent meal together with incredible scenery. You’ll be able to view the whole of Sea Point from this restaurant that revolves slowly, so over the course of an evening meal you’ll get to see the mountains, the sea and hundreds of tiny lights after sunset.  You don’t want to miss this view!

4.    Harvey’s @ The Winchester Mansions

The Winchester Mansions is a quaint hotel situated right on the Sea Point beachfront. Harvey’s, a popular bar at the hotel, is most definitely one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Sea Point. You’ll be able to have a cocktail on the balcony, soak up the sun and mingle with locals and tourists in this yuppie locale.

With the palm-tree-lined beach road and seaside promenade seconds away, Harvey’s is the ‘in’ place to be! This is just as good as sitting at a café in South Beach Miami. Whether it be for sundowners or for a good old night cap, enjoy the view from the Winchester in style!

5.    Queen’s Beach

If you want to mingle with the locals and at the same time view the beauty of a Sea Point beach, then Queen’s Beach the place to be. A walk along the Sea Point promenade in the Camps Bay direction and you’ll end up at Queen’s Beach.

Sea Point beaches are known for their white sand but also for their piles of blue-black mussel shells that get washed ashore. However, Queen’s Beach is well-looked after and frequented by locals and foreigners alike. So on a sweltering day, grab an ice-cream and take a walk to Queen’s Beach – you won’t be disappointed!
