La Masia del Born, Barcelona

I stumbled across La Masia del Born in Barcelona on my very first day in this vibrant city. The interior décor of the restaurant was homely and quaint. La Masia del Born has all the niceties of a formal restaurant without the over-the-top fanciness or exorbitant prices.

I found La Masia del Born to be a great spot if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxed dinner away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets in Barcelona (but still close enough to the action).

I had a three-course meal consisting of a delicious Catalan salad (with slices of cured meats and sausages), a spicy chicken variation of the famous paella and for dessert I opted for the traditional crema Catalana (a version of crème brûlée made from custard with a zest of lemon and cinnamon).

A 2007 bottle of Casa Vella Cabernet Savignon completed my culinary Catalan experience. I’ll definitely be back to La Masia del Born!
